IT WAS A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT....IN THE COLD, COLD, LAND OF NOD....

....uh...I mean Wisconsin....
The Wind Whipped Mercilessly at the Poor Little House on the Frozen Tundra...
Suddenly, Goody Wampus (a/k/a "Kitty") Heard a "Thud" at the Door...
(Well, OK, Not a "Thud," Maybe...More Like a Tremorous Little Knock...)
Reluctantly Rising From the Warm Fire Her DH Had Built,
Goody Wampus Went to See What the Winds Had Brought to Her Doorstep...
When She Opened the Door, Lo, and Behold, She Found:

Poor, Poor, Little Dear!
He Seemed to Have Been Blown In By the Storm...
And So Disoriented, He Didn't Know Where He Had Come From, Or Even Remember His Name!!

OK....So None of That Is Actually True.  I Only WISH This Sweet Little Guy Had Landed at My Doorstep!  But He Does Need Help Finding A Name....

He is Traci (from York Mountain Mercantile)'s Latest Creation. You Can Help Name Him and WIN Him in Traci's Name-That-Bear Contest!

Go to http://yorkmountainmercantilesales.blogspot.com/ for the Details!!

Hurry ~ Contest Ends April 19th!

STOP!!! THIEF!!! Help ~ I've Been Robbed....By a Carrot Burglar!!

Remember that bunny bucket with the needle felted carrots I showed in a post a few posts back???  Well, this morning, after stumbling around for coffee, etc., on the way to letting the snow dog out, this is what I saw:

Mind you, I'm not caffeinated yet....but I definitely had more carrots in that bucket than that....!

Hmmm.....The brain is starting to warm up and process things....

I begin to look at the "big" picture....and notice, yes, that's a carrot on the floor!

Still trying to process where my stupid carrots could have gone, I make my way to the bathroom to find:

(It's really too early in the morning for this...!)

Then, the pieces start to fall in place when I go to feed the kitties....

This guy looks a little guilty, don't you think???

And while I'm 100% positive he is, in fact, responsible for putting that carrot in his food dish (because HE is the only creature other than ME who puts things IN his food bowl....), I'm not entirely convinced he's the culprit behind this heist.  But, then my ever-quick (!) legal brain recalls someone who has a fetish for all things wool (BESIDES me!)......And, I think I eventually caught the little thief with the goods in paw:

No wonder she's sleeping - she must have been up half the night hauling those carrots around!!
No sympathy here....I'm still down a carrot or two....I'll let you know where they turn up if they ever do!!

Yesterday's Project

In addition to bunnies and other assorted addictions, I have a thing for little yellow chicks...So, yesterday, I added to my flock.  I needle felted this little guy out of angora roving....so it's really kinda "fuzzy."  Haven't figured out a good way of making legs, so for now, he is a sitting chick....or is that a sitting duck??? Now that I look at the photos, he really does look a little duck-ish.  Hmmm....maybe a little adjusting is in order....

The Bunnies Are Multiplying....!

So, no Spring here yet....But....I'm bringing out more bunnies anyway....
Every year I forget how they "multiply...."

This is my "Velveteen" Rabbit....and some punchneedle eggs.....

And some needle felted carrots in a bunny bucket.....

Some quail eggs in a real nest....

A bunny rug I hooked in Waldoboro style (The "Hare Heist...." by Ewe and Eye)

More quail eggs...another nest.....a vintage postcard....another German candy container....and some of my neighbor's eggs.....

And a bunny I needle felted out of a different neighbor's sheep's wool....(how cool is that?!)

And....a needle felted sheep pillow tuck:

Spring out of a storage box will have to do for now...
But, I hear we're supposed to top 40 degrees by the end of the week...
Yippee!!!

Have a great week everyone!

Bring on the Bunnies!!!!

...and little yellow chicks, eggs, nests, sheep, and a duck or two....

I'm very, very weary of winter, and snow....As my previous post indicated, Spring hasn't yet found our neck of the woods.  But, I'm breaking out the bunnies.  Hope it'll help soothe my frost-bitten soul....

Some antique German candy containers and a metal chocolate mold in the background:

Bunnies in punchneedle:

And that's just the tip of the iceberg....(or the top of my tv!!)

Off to find more Easter treasures to brighten things up!!

Yes, Virginia, "Snow" is a Four-letter Word....

Spring hasn't found Wisconsin yet......

Is it just me, or does the Snow Dog even look a little sad????

(Ok....I lied about the pet pictures....When I find some spring, perhaps I'll move on. For now, everything else is....well..... so white....)

If Wishes Were Horses, Beggars Would Ride....

If Wishes Were Horses, Beggars Would Ride...
If Kitties Did Laundry,
I'd Have a Smile a Country-mile Wide....

Ok.  So that's not how the rhyme goes....and that's not how my life went today.
I was SUPPOSED to do laundry....NEED to do laundry....but just didn't want to.
Tried cleaning the goop my DH got in the washer by putting the
detergent in the softener dispenser when he TRIED to do laundry
(Hah! Know he did it on purpose!)
and that about took all day and wasn't very successful either.
Then, just putzed around....And the kitties waited (they like laundry day...)

Maybe I'll just turn our socks inside out....(JUST KIDDING!)

And, by the way...the rhyme was one of my daddy's favorites....
It acutally goes (I think!):

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride;
If turnips were watches, I would wear one by my side;
And if "ifs' and "ans" were pots and pans;
The tinker would never work.

Strange I know....but, hey - that's how I grew up!

Promise...I'll lay off the pet pictures and get on to something a little more productive....!

Have a great week All!

Ahhhh....DONE! (And done is good...)

Finally done (well, almost - still have to steam it...for some reason, I hate that part....)
This is a rug I hooked several months ago - but just finally finished binding it.  My part of the jury is still out on it....not as primitive as I like, but I kinda liked that it reminds me of those great Victorian-era postcards, and I have a thing for little yellow chicks....  It's a pattern by Ginny Glover at Cabin Fever ("Spring Chicken"....)  Hand-dyed color plan by my friend Cathy at Red Barn Rugs.  Hmmm...Will have to see if it grows on me.  At least now I'm "free" to move on to another project....("Welcome Kitties".....based on an antique rug and MUCH more primitive....and larger :o!) OK...maybe after I finish that Christmas stocking I started...and work in an Easter punchneedle project or two....and...

Gee...Princess Lizzi doesn't seem too impressed.....

And, Last But Not Least, Introducing Sasha....

Sorry for the delay, but Sasha is not so inclined to having his photo taken.  He is, well, one of a kind.  Fondly known as "Sashua, Sashquat, Sasawotomi, and Saasykitty, he is perhaps best known as "The Bath Cat."  Yup.  That's where he spends 99% of his time, and embarasses every guest we've ever had. If you are using the potty and do not turn on the water for him, he will tap you on the shoulder.  If you ignore that polite request (or if there is no one accompanying him in the bath when the urge hits him), he will turn the water on himself.  Too bad he doesn't turn it off again.

Sasha suffers a bit from an identity crisis.  He came to us thinking he was a she.  As did the vet - until the vet tried to "take care of" certain parts "he" didn't have.  Poor, poor kitty.  Anyway....he is what he is....and we love him.

Ahhh....Satiated (saturated??) and so, so sleepy.....
