One Man + One Bottle of Round-Up = One Cranky Crow

OK folks....I don't have many pretty gardens....I do do a lot of container gardening....old pots, watering cans, even shoes....(Papa Crow (note - not "DH" tonight) remembers to pick up his shoes this time of year otherwise he knows they just might get something planted in them....)
But, one unique feature I always had was the flowers that bloomed in our patio bricks (yes, I said "in")....It always tickled me that these flowers would come up year after year on their own on a patio that Papa Crow carefully built with a layer of concrete underneath the bricks so weeds wouldn't come up....
And such a variety ~ At least 5 different colors of petunias, moss roses in every shade of the rainbow, vincas, and even gypsophila...)
BUT....today.....I went out to the patio and saw THIS!

And this:

And this:

And this:

A search of the dumpster in the garage revealed this:

It's very, very, quiet in the Crow's Nest tonight.....

Don't feel bad.My hubby decided to "clean up" one of my circles and weed whacked my huge yarrow which was just getting ready to turn yellow.I was planning on drying it as I had a ton.Grrr could have just killed him.Of all the helpful things they can do sometimes they just have pure "Duh" moments.I can only imagine how pretty the patio was.Big hug to you!~Amy

I swear you can't turn your back on them for a minute! In this past week, my hubby has weed whacked one of my peonies and trampled a perennial bed! I have a panic attack every time he heads to the garden shed!

I am chuckling in sympathy with all the comments! Men are a project, aren't they? The first time my DH wielded the snowblower, it picked up a loose piece of concrete from the sidewalk which hurled past my head, narrowly missing me, and shattered the front picture window! Luckily, he doesn't go into the garden much!!

The sad part is he thought he was doing good...lol! Men! Gotta love them if you don't kill them. Yeah, I'd be a cranky crow, too.
I love planting hen and chicks in my son's old work boots, but the last few years those darned squirrels won't leave them alone so I've finally given up :(
Pug hugs :)

Lol Why is it whenever they decide to do something on their own, it's always the wrong thing....
I see pansies sprouting in his favorite pair of shoes perhaps

Been there, saw that. My hubs did it to the rock sidewalk that had greenery growing in between at the other place we lived at. Then he wanted to spray our gravel lane that has grass growing down the middle. I said NO! TO THAT ONE. What's a lane without grass down the middle, Duh!
He has also done it around the house next to my mulch. Only he has a big sprayer he pulls behind the kubota.
Funny how they seem to do this when we aren't around. Wonder why?
I guess its a man thing.
You need to get a thinking shed like I have, put him in there for awhile where its hot, he'll think twice before rounding anything up.

One good thing...I've never had much luck with any of those weed killers..so I'm betting the flowers will be back next year...

Don't feel so bad. My hubby has mowed and weeded my flowers from my gardens thinking they were weeds. He no longer weeds. I did get all new flowers out of it.:)

My husband doesn't always look where he is going and sometimes steps on some of my plants. I had transplanted one of my flowers to a new location and yes he stepped on it. I have lots of perennials that I am dividing. If you ever need some, come for a visit.

Mr. Moonlit threw out all of my recycling-3 months worth and mowed over 12 spruce trees I handplanted that were given to me by my deceased brother-in-law, just to name two. It does make you sad Robin! He must redeemeth himself with a shopping trip to ye olde garden center! ~*~Lisa

Oh my gosh, my hubby does that too. Sprays for weeds then we have dead patches all over. I hate that! Well, I wonder if your flowers will come back anytime? I hope so, maybe next year.

OH NO.... A few years ago we had a case of ants and so Duane went around the perimeter of the house and sprayed. You know those peonies that I showed yesterday? All had buds on them full of ants. No blooms for that year and very few the next! When will they learn? I hope yours come back next year! t. xoxoxo
