The Merriment Chain ~ Day 12: A Midnight Skate....

There is something about this time of year that makes me feel closer to "yesteryear" and simpler times than any other time.

To think one could bottle all the magic of those Christmases past....

On Day 12 of The Merriment Chain, I've decided to share with you one of my very favorite things....
Antique skaters' lanterns.

Be Merry!

Oh!!!Robin, I adore the sweet skating lanterns so much, you have a wonderful collection, thanks for making my day showing them on the fun Merriment chain. I received a lantern a couple years ago for Christmas, I begged and hinted for it and to my surprise I got the cutest little skating lantern, love it so.I have it hanging out all year long to, so I can look at it all the time. Blessings Francine.

I love those. I have only had one and sold it when I was in the antique business. You don't find them here in the south and I could kick myself! Your merriment today made me merry. Thank you. A nice collection

Wow! Skating lanterns! Aren't they darling?

You're right about the old coming to the fire at Christmas. like the beautiful bird from Great Aunt Laura, the treasures we put out year after year, we fill with magic. Some of the magic comes from memories from happy days past, and some from the magic comes from hope for the future.

Thank you for giving us something to see every single day, Miss Crow.

I first chuckled at the new header. Do you know how often I see a naked bum around here? Baby never keeps her clothes on:) I've all but given up on it too. 'Lil' cheeks are soooo cute. The lantern's are pretty. I saw some really neat one's in a small antique store, but were a little pricey. Your's are really pretty. I've skated once, I don't think a lantern would have helped. Ha ha.

The lanterns are beautiful! I have never seen them before. I love the design. I must say, Roberta's comment really is a beautiful, nostalgic one to dream of! I am like everyone also- did you stitch the pillow? I loved that whole cabinet shelf- very balanced, and very prim!

Love your home, my dear!
Blessings!
