Talent In The Neighborhood.....

Hey all....

Didn't think you'd get rid of me that easily, now did you??

Halloween is over, and along with it the 13 Days of Halloween Blog Chain, but I'm still here.  I've hit another rough patch (more like a gaping manhole) in this road of mine, but I need an escape....so I'm here.

Before I got "possessed" by the spirit of the 13 ghosts days of Halloween, I mentioned that I had started hooking a bit again and shared with you a rare finish....("rare" only in the sense that I actually finished something/anything....)

In the process of getting back into the "spirit" of things (yeah, I'm still in Halloween mode....bear with me...), I was lucky enough to "hook up" with some neighbors of mine.....
When they showed me these rugs of theirs, I melted.  Although these will be "published" soon in a special article on sepia rugs, I feel especially honored to be able to share them with you here before that happens....

First up:
"Marry Me Mary" by a ridiculously talented neighbor down the road, Marilyn Becker.  This rug memorializes the proposal of her father to her mother..... Wow. Just WOW.

Then there's this amazing rendition of Abe Lincoln done by my incredibly talented neighbor and friend, Cathy, of Red Barn Rugs.  It is based on one of the last photographs known to have been taken of Lincoln before he was assassinated.  Cathy has titled her masterpiece "Oh Captain !, My Captain" (from the Walt Whitman poem.)

Eeek.  I'm in awe.  I'm gonna go to bed now and hope that this talent thing is something in the water in this neck of the woods and I catch it....
