Tuesday Display Chain: Sprucing & Springing

Help?
It's Tuesday again....My beloved display chain is in play....but my offerings for this week's theme, "Sprucing & Springing," are pathetic.
Unfortunately, here in Nod, there isn't a whole lot of either going on.
Not much "springing" because, although, like many of you, we have had unusually mild temperatures of late, you must keep in mind that we are, after all, in Nod.....Spring finds us very, very, slowly here.
Not much "sprucing" because I've been spending most of my time between nursing homes, hospitals, doctor offices, and ERs.....I'll try to provide an update soon.

But, here we go.

What's springing up:

Tulips (So far, The Cranky Crow 1: The Resident Tulip-eating Rabbit: 0)

Daffodils (NO!! They're not blooming yet - and this photo was taken this morning!)

Lily of the Valley (Gotta look close - they're there, I promise!!)

Rhodedendrum (lots of buds!)

If you look close, there are buds on this Viburnum....and spruce trees in the background....hence, "sprucing & springing...." Ok...I know - boo, hiss - that's a real stretch.

Likewise, with our May tree....."Springing" in the foreground, and "sprucing" in the background....

When I ventured out to see what might be "springing" up, I saw something in the bushes around the pool, so thought I would do some "sprucing" and throw it away.  But it was part of this bird's home construction:

It's hard to tell from the photo, but the plastic is actually wound into the nest, making it part of it - but there is definitely more at the top.  Perhaps it's that bird's idea of retractable roofing?

Other than that, there's bunches of bunnies springing up as I spruce our nest for spring....And, of course, that means it's time for the ceremonial "changing of the rugs...."  (Yup, Traci, this is for you....)

I know, I know....a sorry display all around.  Promise I'll try to do better next week.  Thanks for your patience with me, and for the visit.....
I've visited one or two of the other chain gang's posts already and they're definitely more fun than mine - hope you'll go to Misi's at 1890 Gable House Musings to find the links to everyone else's posts.....

I was just going to email you and here you had put a post on!
Your photos look more like spring than we have in our neck of the woods! Your pansies look like brave little soldiers, standing bravly against the cold.I'm so sorry to say the painting you wanted is no longer available, I wish i had made prints because ifI had they would be on their way to you, stay warm and stay out of the ER! ( and nursing homes all but to visit loved ones )!!!

I, for you, thoroughly enjoyed your post about sprucing and springing, and although I may have let out a little groan, I was rather impressed with the pics of spruces in the background and budding trees springing up in the foreground.... Very clever!!
LOVE the bunny rug!!!

Robin -- loved the post ! You are behind us here in the North East but that's OK --we're WAY ahead and the robins are anxious today with overnight temps at 15 degrees... Loved your pics and your rug. How beautiful -- thank you -- hang in there with the family needs -- love and time is important to those that need it.

Robin,
The bird nest is soo sweet!! I love to find nests and look at what the birds used to make them with. We bought a huge bag of bird feed and set it on the front porch beside some of my old wooden boxes. When I went to open it and fill the bird feeders there was bird seed all over the porch in front of the bag. A squirrell or two had nibbled a hole in the bag and had been pulling out the sunflower seeds eating them and leaving the shells behind!! So funny!
Hugs,
Lynn

Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!The spring rug is hung!!!! You are a hoot Robin, but I feel so much better now :)

And quite the comedian with the springing foreground and sprucing background (made me laugh)

It looks like spring will arrive sooner or later there in Nod, be thankful, we got a horribly hard freeze last night and my flowers look pathetic. I knew things were happening way to early this year.

Oh, geesh almost forgot, I love the birdnest...I think it may be weather proofing with the plastic.

Hugs,
Traci

Robin, you may not think you have much to add to this Tuesday's display chain but it certainly proved you wrong...very nice!
You have more going on there than I do here.
I'm always amazed at what birds will add to their nests...and plastic - well that's one smart planning ahead bird. Living in Wisconsin the weather changes on a dime.
Beautiful hooked rug.

What a fun visit to your home. That bird's nest fascinates me. How in the heck did they carry and weave that huge piece of plastic? Everything here is in bloom too. We have some major work to do in our yard. Usually the hard freeze helps us out but not this year! lol Thinking of you as you try to juggle so much. xoxo

We have some little things springing up around here too, but what I really want is that bird for a contractor... I have an attic closet that needs a new ceiling and I think he/she could do a better job than the hubby and me! Happy Easter! t.xoxoxoox

Oh my! The Rabbit Rug! I love this time of year. Rabbits everywhere!
I have to admire the bird, being thrifty and using what is around. A waterproof nest?

Oh! And I love love your blog header. The little girl looks so much like Alice Liddell, complete with rabbit. Wherever did you find it?
