Teaching an Old Crow New Tricks...

I've not much to say...but I finally got the new pc set up and wanted to see if I could actually manage a blogpost.

Fingers crossed.

I know some were expecting wedding photos and I promise I will share some...if I somehow manage to figure out how to transfer what is salvageable data from my old hard drive here...and figure out where, exactly, my photos go when I try to upload them.

Change doesn't come easily to me and I get very attached to old ways.
And, frankly, I haven't had time to experiment.
The lightning damage is worse than I initially realized.  I have managed to get the backup generator and the pool system repaired and, obviously, replaced my pc. This next week will be spent trying to get my wells up and running.
No small task given that replacing the pump for the main house involves cutting down my tree (Lauren...I feel your pain intensely), removing plantings and landscaping and trying to relocate a very large...and very heavy...concrete birdbath.

I sometimes feel as though I just can't handle anything more...then I think of those who lost everything in the wake of Helene...and I feel ashamed.

Anyways....

What you get today is just some random photos that somehow managed to migrate to a place I can find them.

Halloween decorating has been put mostly on hold for yet another year.
I have pulled out a few favorites or easily accessible pieces and will call it good.
One piece that somehow didn't find its way back to where it was supposed to be is this piece I stitched last year.  I don't think I've posted it...if I have, my apologies.

"Pumpkins Three" by La-D-Da. (Sorry for the glare.)
The frame should have been larger, but it was a premade frame that didn't come larger...and I liked it, so I forced it.
Seeing it here, I may decide to reframe it....
Or not.

On the fun side of things, my daughter-in-law and I took little Mia for her first visit to the pumpkin patch at the orchard.

It was a picture-perfect day and I'm glad to say Mia found a pumpkin she loved enough to bring home.

We are under a frost advisory for tonight and I should move a few plants that are still thriving indoors.
But I won't.
I'm truly tired of watering.

Hoping your Sunday was good to you.

I am not tech savvy so totally understand the challenge with finding things or learning how new things work. And if it makes you feel better, I stopped decorating for Halloween years ago. Well except for maybe a couple of the hooked rugs.
My but how Mia has grown and if she is enjoying the Halloween festivities, then Christmas will be very special for her.

I do less "Halloween" decorating and more displays of naturals that I find in the Woods and along the lake...dried, papery gooseberry "lanterns," Witches' Burrs, old roots and unusual sticks and stones. But there is a little cornhusk Witch flying on her broom on the living room wall clock...and a pair of Witch boots gracing my front door wreath!

And Mia is a doll!

I hate change and anything techy is a challenge. I got new WIFI and 4 things no longer worked because they weren't automatically connected to the new. DSO to the rescue. Three of the four are now up and running. Did I mention I hate change?
Sweet, sweet pics of Mia and yes, we are waiting on wedding photos.
Helene...so heartbreaking and our government is pretty much useless from what I have been seeing. They need to put Governor DeSantis in charge and things will be done...quickly. Off my soapbox now.

there is a massive amount of intentional misinformation about the federal government's response to the recovery from Hurricane Helene ... all but one of the affected states' governors have agreed that FEMA has been all in on providing for their needs - it's a horrifically devastating event and there is no quick fix ... just sayin'

My coping skills too are gone. So much I need to do but can't face. Why? I used to be kick ass and in charge. A sweet grand daughter and a pumpkin patch are such good fall fun. Love that pumpkin & sidekick crow. Best of luck with all that befalls you it's all relative so no shame on you. All we can do is wish well for others and help if we can. Betty

reading your post made me realize just how much we all have in common...if we all only stopped a minute to realize it.

Mia is adorable! I need to get back to posting....Summer is such a busy time, I'm not at the computer much at all. We went to a pumpkin farm Sunday with our youngest grandson and two grand-daughters. Grant loved it all, but especially the tractor pulling the hay wagon. Sometimes we just need those little smiles to brighten our days. Take care Robin.

The fun side of Fall and October was always going to the pumpkin patch and pick the perfect one for carving when the kiddo were little. We had a rule that you had to be able to carry it yourself or it was a no go! That came after hauling huge gourds up a flight of stairs to the apartment over our office years ago! Mia is so sweet and I love her outfit! I hope the well gets fixed. We got hit by lightning once that took out some of our electric and with a well, no electric no water. Good luck Robin and try to enjoy this wonderful month! I need to post since it's going fast!

The storm sure came for a nasty visit at your house. I'm so sorry for all the damage. I haven't gone through any bad storm but there's so much that needs fixing and hubby can no longer fix things. He used to fix things himself, years ago. I don't even know where to start.

Oh goodness, Mia has grown so much since her last photo. I just love that picture with the pumpkins. So precious...

Hugs, Julia

Youry Mia is a darling!!!! How lucky you are to have a little in your life.
I am so sorry life has not been easy for you lately . Our house was hit by lighting years and years ago we had to pull our well pump not a cheap thing.
I love your stitching I wish I had the eyes for it still. I use to cross stitch.
We had a hard frost too I have been covering things up but like you I am tired of caring for them right now and wondering if I should bring some of them in for the winter.
