No, not those greens kitteh....
And even though your eyes are a pretty intense green, I don't mean that green either.
I'm desperately in need of outside, growing-things, green.
I know that Nod can have freak April blizzards that drop a foot of snow or more, but this spring has been like a slow, tedious, cold and windy, torture.
I see photos on some of your blogs of green leaves, green grass, and good grief...even blooming things!....and I am, well, "green."
Yesterday we made it almost to 70° but it was cloudy, and windy...and today we are back to freezing...and gale force winds. (60 mph gusts...seriously???)
Yeah, yeah...I know "no winter lasts forever, no spring skips it turn," but the guy who wrote that (and yes, it was a "guy"), never lived in Nod.
Anyhow...
Like I said, it's been windy.... Incredibly windy. Like almost-every-day windy.
And wind makes me edgy edgier than usual.
Cabin fever and wind are a foul combination I tell ya.
There's a reason (probably more than one) that I'm called the Cranky Crow.
Nothing is really blogworthy here...one day blends into the next unnoticed.
I am slowly putting the bunnies of Easter back into their dark hiding spots until next season and filling the empty places they left with more "generic" signs of spring.
It's not helping...in case you were wondering.
I've made only negative progress on my hooking.
In my defense, it isn't easy when a 20# cat decides your rug hooking frame is his new bff.
And, yes, that's Snowdog on the other side.
And, yes, that's a drop cloth on my floor.
On a happy news note, on one of my trips "down there," I opened a box I had not noticed before sitting on a shelf and peeked inside... And there was my collection of stone fruit.
I have been looking for these since WWR ended.
I'll take my victories where I can get them.

My recent read was "Anxious People" by Fredrik Backman.
Completely out of my typical genres and, had it not been given to me to read, I likely never would have chosen to read it, and that would have been my loss.
Yes, it was that good.
It's a poignant, comical, novel about a crime that never took place, a wanna-be bank robber who disappears, and eight extremely "anxious" strangers who are held hostage by said wanna-be bank robber.
I typically don't like comedy...not in television shows, not in movies, not in books... (Perhaps there is more than one reason I am cranky?),
but this author's humor is wry and witty...a rare combination that I found completely charming.
Whimsical, yes...but also a dive into the study of society and the workings of people's minds.

Be well...stay sane.
On second thought, just be well.

Will the book make me more anxious? I'm running out of Ativan.
It's been windy here, not gale force, but enough to make my cathedral chimes sing all day. I like wind on warm days and wowza, it's been 80's.
Windy here also and the kids in CA complain about wind weekly. so what does this all mean in the scheme of the demise of civilization?
I apologize for being braggadocios in flaunting my green. My only defence is the yard looked like kaka for three years. :D
What is it with the wind this year??? I do not remember a windier spring. We are chilly (had the fireplace going last night) and windy too. Today cloudy but in the high 50s then it goes downhill from there all week. So, a friend and I are headed out hiking today. the only thing blooming around here is my geraniums that are inside.
I love your stone fruit I would like to collect it, but I came to it late and it is crazy expensive now. So I guess I can admire yours and Lauren's.
I always see your stitching pieces and think I want to try again after many years and not as good eyesight I think I am kidding myself.
have a great day
Cathy
Sounds like a great book! I love your book reports, lol. I'm hoping to get back into reading eventually. For now, I seem to get more enjoyment out of watching YouTube videos on gardening, cooking and things like canning...now if I'd actually do all of those things instead of just watching! I did get some seeds going though inside the house and we have peas coming up in the raised beds. So there's that. Your kitties are precious! And Snowdog - so handsome. I guess it's time for me to put away the few bunnies that I found hiding in the upstairs storage area (my sewing room/catch all room!). It's going to be in the 50's here this week. We've had wind but not enough to stop us raking the stone walls here and there. Oh! We enjoyed what I hope is our last fire in the living room this season. Maybe next one will be in the fire ring. Hope spring shows up soon in Nod... Jan in MA
Your kitteh cannot possibly be comfortable but then it's a 12 pounder with lots of fluffy fur to protect itself. I used to enjoy reading but haven't picked up a book in over a year or so. And when I did it was one my ex wrote. I'd rather be entertained with TV and hook for entertainment.
Your kitties and Snowdog are looking comfy. My goodness, that fluffy thing laying on your rug frame is as big as Snowdog.
I hope that spring weather finds you soon. It's been cold here too but yesterday was warm enough for Bar-B-Q. My first of the season. I needed that.
The grass is growing but not long enough to cut yet. That's a chore I'm not in a rush to do. Being idle all winter, my back muscles are rather flabby by now.
Your book review sound very interesting. I only read at bedtime and can only read a few pages before falling asleep unless it's a stimulating book, in which case I won't read it at night as it will keep me awake.
I have a broad spectrum of interests and find my entertainment is Youtube.
In the meantime, I hope that the grass is starting to grow and that your weather starts to warm up.
Take care, hugs
Julia
I keep thinking the last 5-10 years have been far windier than it was in my childhood (in the 1960s), not just this year. And the cold wet Mays of late - what happened to May being gentle and warm, safe to put the tomato plants out on Mother's Day weekend? Of course, it could be faulty memory on my part.
I haven't read fiction in years, not sure why. Other than back when I returned to school years ago, there was little time and I got out of the habit? OTOH, I have so many sewing/needlework & garden books I should get out and read, and we'll not discuss the cookbook collection.
I'm firmly convinced comfort has little to do with where cats lay, it's more about laying where *we'd* rather they didn't. Cool beans on finding the stone fruit!
I forgot to add - your SIL did a grand job on those buttons!
That is a lot of wind. I bet you are having cabin fever. I am living with green and I am having cabin fever. I need the ocean so bad.
Your buttons are lovely and that book sounds cute and funny. I find that now I really enjoy funny books. I never liked them but after so much sadness in the world, sometimes I just enjoy laughing.
I still don't like comedy or movies like that.
May is around the corner. Hopefully spring will arrive and will stay. No more wind or snow.
I hope this is a better week.
Your kittehs...so sweet. Those eyes...and that 20 pounder is bigger than my Molly. How is Snowdog? Molly's myelopathy is getting much worse...and we are having an issue with poop just falling out. Argh. Good thing I love her.
Happy to hear you found your stone fruit! One of my favorite collections. Most of mine is not "antique". Probably vintage at best. Like Cathy said, now so expensive. $30 a piece (or more) seems to be the going rate. I sure don't need more stuff for my boys to have to deal with...but hopefully not for a long, long time...lol!
Calling for some snow here Thursday but spring has assured me she is going to make short work of it. Thanks for sharing your cool pics. I saw stone fruit grapes at the thrift for $25 but they weren’t as good looking as your fruits. I didn’t buy it.
I am green that your fluffy kitty and Snowdog are together. Wish my kitties liked Tundra. Your SIL's buttons are adorable! Am also loving you stone fruit and so glad you found them. I am still on the hunt for any fruit half, or even a watermelon slice. Hoping that the weather turns for you in Nod and things do turn green outside for you soon.Janice
I love seeing your wonderful stitcheries tucked into the most becoming ways here and there. Everyone is talking about the wind this spring, and I am no exception. It blows and blows from morning to night. But, even Nod will have its days of green, no doubt!
Spring is difficult sometimes. Two Saturdays ago, we had 5 inches of snow, but last weekend it was beautiful. I get out whenever I can to get my hands in the dirt, and try to fill those windy, chilly days by finishing up some UFO quilts I began during the winter. It's very windy up here on our hill about the lake, and sometimes, even when it is near 60, the wind makes it feel so cool. We got rain and it turned chilly again last night. I sure am hoping this will be the last of it! Spring needs to stay. I picked a lovely bunch of daffodils yesterday to help brighten the dreary day today.
Hang in there....warmer weather will be here soon! Hugs from the Finger Lakes.
It has been windy! We took our flag down and are waiting for a day to put it back up. We are windy Wisconsin, but this is getting a bit much...and snow this morning...wahahahaha. You know I have an event to get ready for and I have to haul stuff out to dig for what I want...not a good day in sight for that. Love the stone fruit!
Ah my cranky friend, I too have been struggling with enforced confinement and horrible freezy weather. I share your pain, but I do like comedy. Clever comedy. If you get the chance to see a film called A Man Called Ove, I think it may tickle your senses. XX
Ps...I've noticed Blogger is making changes again. Go figure. Hope you will be able to get your log-on corrected. What a pain. As for my bird blog I only post there once a week every Saturday. So, keep an eye on my Hootin' Anni's sidebar. I will show the rookery photos soon.
I am enjoying our green and the flowers are blooming, as well as, the birds coming back for the season. But today it was windy and cold, so it is still up and down for us too. I know it won't be long before I am complaining it is too hot.

Evening Crow, I finally climbed out from under the snowbank, lol… this has been the worst longest winter ever! Cannot remember having snowbanks at the beginning of May, it’s so depressing. I’m with you on finding green, made a trip to the nursery and bought myself some Pansy’s that did bring a smile to my face. One day I will get around to planting in containers for I know I’ll be bringing them in the house with these cold temps…. Love your pets, how sweet they are, the Cranky Crow buttons too… happy you found your stone fruit, love your decorating. take care, Spring Blessings Francine.
I know your winter weather is holding down since my sister-in-law (your lake neighbor) made a comment on Facebook about the snow coming down even though she was decorating for Spring. We had a couple of hard frosts this past week but it looks more normal this coming week. I went to the plant place today but had to hold back my desire to get annuals since I know it's really still too early to plant. I just needed some pricier items and seniors got 10% off today! So hang in there and I know Spring will appear one day. I've put away Easter decor and grasping for ideas to redecorate for Spring. I love your fruit! So cool but I'm sure it's expensive to start collecting it now. Everything is expensive. Walmart had watermelons for $9.84! Seriously? One lousy melon for almost $10??? What has happened to world??? Have a good weekend and don't bother buying any melons yet or flowers for that matter!
