Such As It Is....

This time of year, I generally post photos of my yard and gardens.
But, as I mentioned to Lauren (Rugs and Pugs), when I went out to take a few photos, I realized how dismal my gardens are this year.

I have lots of excuses of course:  Been busy; got a late start (had planned on not planting hoping to be at the lake...but...); my usual "go-to's" were gone when I did finally go; the Great Rabbit Invasion of Nod; monsoon-type rainfall; etc., etc.

But, as has been said, excuses build bridges to nowhere and tunnels to nothingness.

And since I have nothing else blog-worthy to say or show, you're getting a brief tour of my yard...such as it is.

{Calibrachoa}

{Black Velvet Petunias}

{Hydrangea}

{Osteospermum}

{Hydrangeas gone rogue...I can no longer see out of my kitchen window}

{Volunteer calibrachoa and baby's breath on my steps}

{First of the hibiscus beginning to bloom}

{Cornzebo all cleaned up}

{Petunias, osteospermum, and angelonia}

{...and Japanese beetles...LOTS of Japanese beetles...I literally just put this trap out}

And there you have it...such as it is.

Looks pretty darn good to me. Some news stories said hydrangeas all over had a banner year. Hang in there! Jen

Liar, liar, pants on fire!!!! What a gorgeous garden you have. And, don't think I've ever seen that stone monument before and am wondering what it is or what it means. Inquiring (nosey) minds want to know.

Ditto what Saundra said. Your flowers are drop dead gorgeous. And those hydrangea! Stunning. That cornzebo!!! To say I am jealous is an understatement. Love you anyways 🤦‍♀️

Robin your flowers are so, so pretty - NOT dismal at all! It takes a lot of work to keep a garden, and honestly some years are just better than others - the weather, our spare time, even our motivation fluctuates. I see flawless gardens and begin to get “twitchy” about mine - then I realize they have a gardener or landscaper and oodles of money to keep it looking spectacular…that’s just not in the cards for me. Be that as it may - yours does look truly lovely. Oh the volunteers - I can never get baby’s breath to grow, and that sweet bird bath! Now about that cornzebo - I have wanted one for years! There’s one standing lonely in a field and I’m going to see if I can get it - did you post on how you found yours? How you moved it? I am SO jealous!

Looking at your amazing gardens make me realize the true picture of dismal are my gardens! You have a gorgeous yard and all those plants are doing great. Our Japanese beetles are less and less now but they really loved the blueberry and raspberry bushes that did nothing this year. I saw a couple on my basil plant but hopefully they will soon be done. I love that cornzebo! What a clever idea. I saw something like that in a magazine today but I like yours better! Have a good week friend...hugs from Ohio!

You have nothing to apologise for - it all looks splendid, though I did smile at the hydrangea obscuring your kitchen window.

Our gardens have had it rough too ~ the weeds are atrocious but they seem to be the only ones resurrecting after such a long drought and now too much rain…oh well! Your flowers and plants are gorgeous and that cornzebo!!! I’m envious ♥️♥️♥️♥️

I've never heard of a Cornzebo---how wonderful! I am in love with all things corn and wheat this season. Thank you for sharing your beautiful Gardens!

You may not be impressed, but I am. Your flower beds are pretty. My outside efforts all went to weeding (not done at all last year due to drought), and trying to install raised beds in the garden instead of planting much of anything.

Don't be so hard on yourself, perfection is over rated and Mother Nature will always provide us with some beautiful plants and trees. Our garden is definitely under performing and our usual great crop of raspberries hasn't even got going yet. We are watering and feeding like mad so fingers cropped things start to perk up soon. Sending love.

How cool to have a corn crib turned into a gazebo. I always wanted to do this if I lived on some acreage. Your flowers are beautiful so dont sell yourself short. Yikes on the beetles though. Janice

I beg to differ for I think your flowers are stunning. How nice it would be to sit and chat with you in that wonderful comzebo.

Wow!! Some sights for sore eyes. From here it looks like you did all the gardening you need to. I only fantasize about gardening...living vicariously through yours.

I loved your flowers, especially the purples. I have not had that kind of purple ( I can't pronounce it even) calobrachia before. Very nice! Like everyone else I love the cornzebo, there is one not far from here that has a little burger joint it. Yours matches your roof line and your fantasy rhelm. The crows must approve, they seem to like pointy top hats!
Thanks for stopping over my way & your kind words. They always encourage me! Annie

I love it all. Favorite is the galvanized tub. My Annabelle hydrangea spread and choked out all others. Favorite variety of deer, they mow it down, it comes back with more blooms. Whichever you have, they are happy!! Once again, such beautiful property. Hope Mia is doing well.

I think they are just incredible and beautiful. When I look at brown and more brown and tired so tired plants and trees. This has been the hottest summer in 150 years, we have broke all kinds of records. I love the peaceful color of green. It looks perfect to me. I would love some rain.

Morning Robin, well I must say I think those are all such beautiful gardens and flowers. How cute the baby’s reach growing on the step, love that.. Your gazebo is wonderful, I would always be in it… Thanks for the tour, I really enjoyed it, take care, Francine.

Oh my! your yard and gardens look like it belongs in a Gardening magazine. I've had no time to blog, or tend to my home gardens this year. Everything is going to the deers.

Enjoy all this beauty around your home.
Hugs,
Julia
