Sodden, Soaked, and Saturated

{View out my kitchen window}

I guess there has been a lot of this going around, but YIKES!
Enough already!!
I generally love dark, rainy, days but this weather we've been having is more than enough even for a sort like me.
It has rained every day this past week save one, and the past few days it has been over an inch each day.  While the forecast changes as quickly as you can refresh your screen, it looks like rain almost every day next week as well.
And cold...very cold. "High" temps are in the low 50's - and yesterday, the "feel-like" temp was in the mid-40's.

Inconvenient for the likes of me, but I feel so badly for the farmers. They cannot get into the fields and the ones they did manage to sow before the monsoons hit are standing in water.

Being unable to do any of things needing done outdoors and tired of my indoor chores, I thought I'd slip in a quick post to wish you state-siders Happy Flag Day!

This design is "Grand Olde Flag" by Brenda Gervais of With Thy Needle & Thread.
I stitched this over 2 years ago already, but it took me a while to get it fully and finally finished since I could not decide whether I should frame it, stuff it, hem it, or chuck it.
It ended up as a flatfold and I'm ok with that.

I also want to acknowledge Father's Day tomorrow. I don't believe I have many fathers reading my blog; and I know many of my followers are of a somewhat "like" age and have lost your fathers...many, like me as well, way too soon.
I was only 15 when my father died but I still remember him well.
So, the day may be bittersweet but, if you can, reach back and grab a good memory - and hold on tight to it.

Love your Grand Olde Flag πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ. Perfectly finished!
Your father was a very handsome man. So young when he died 😒
My rain gauge showed 3” of rain between last eve and this morning. In August we will be praying to the rain gods πŸ’§πŸ’§πŸ’§

A perfect finish for your Grand Old Flag. Have this pattern on my radar. Happy Flag Day! Gosh from snow to rain...you cannot catch a break. So sorry to hear you lost your dad at such a young age. He was handsome. Well hope there is not a need to build an ark and that the rain stops soon. Janice

We're about at the tipping point here [South-central KY] when 'enough' rain is becoming 'too much rain.' Local farmers got in the first cutting of hay, gardens are flourishing. But--rain is forecast for much of the coming week, and we're not in need of it.
Fathers: when we are small ''father" looms large as provider, disciplinarian, companion for outings and fun.
As an adult I came to have an appreciation for my Dad as a fellow human--complex, gifted, flawed, a man who gave 100% and then some to every job he tackled.

The Liberty stitchery flat fold looks beautiful as if that was the intended finish. Your father looks quite dapper and important. My son was 13 when his dad died, far too soon for both of you to lose a parent.

I too am sorry you lost your Dad when you were a teen. As the others commented he was handsome and I see a twinkle of humor in his eyes. You stitched and finished GrandOld Flag beautifully! Cudos on lining up the ric-rac just right. And yes, enough with the rain already.

Too much rain for you, too little for us, though some parts of UK had floods recently. It's very hard for the farmers. It's difficult enough for them to make ends meet.

What a sweet stitch and finish! I haven't done one in ages and approx 4 are languishing for a final somethingorother. Lovely picture of your father. Mine died at 55. The war and alcohol robbed him of what could have been much better. By the time he came back from Korea he was a stranger to me and remained as such til his end...tho I did try. I hold on to the good - there was some.
Sorry LOL this is not my blog.
Please don't drown up there. We haven't had rain but it is definitely Junuary down here in sunny? Southern California.

Love your Grand Ole Flag! You finished it perfectly. You do such beautiful work. I didn't know you were having rain like that. My son who lives in North Carolina, is trying to finish and addition to his house and it continues to rain every day. So he is in that same boat. I do love seeing everything green. But my goodness, an inch a day. I would be loosing my mind too. How sweet a picture of your Dad. It is hard to loose a loved one at any age. But 15 is way to young.
I hope you have a lovely day.

The blue fabric of your finish matches her dress perfectly. Love the photo of your dad. We had one no-rain day and it was in the 70's, but not to last. Summer weather has been ending too soon in recent years, and now that I'm thinking, furnace had been run in May and June too! My season gets shorter every year.

Hi Robin - I’m sorry I’m so far behind in commenting, I just can’t seem to catch up with anything these days. I’ll try to post later today - anyway, oodles of rain here too, but the temps are creeping up. And yes it’s always bad when planting is delayed or crops are sitting underwater - it’s been an odd spring. I love the stitched piece - such patience to create (not my forte!) Oh the sweet photo of your dad - very distinguished looking! I can’t imagine - it must have been so hard losing him at such a young age. Holding on tight to the memories is wonderful advice. I hope the days dry out for you so you can enjoy them - as much of a homebody as I am (and there’s always more then enough work to do indoors) it always feels good to be outside - soft breeze, birds singing, just puttering. Sending some sunshine to Nod!

I Love your pretty Liberty cross stitch and the way you finished it is great ! We have had a lot of rain here too , every Saturday for that past 3 months it has rained all day long ! All the weddings & graduations have had to rent lots of tents ! All of the crops will be affected this crazy weather and prices will go up & up like everything else . Hope it dries out for you and gets warmer !
