The Merriment Chain ~ Day 15: My Merry Is Wearing A Little Thin....Or, The Continuing Saga Of The Lights....

Well my Bloggies, I'm sure you were expecting this day would be coming eventually....
The day when my "merry" is stretched and my "cranky" shines through....

It's just that, among other things, it's end of term (finals, papers, grades, etc.), beginning of new term (syllabi, lesson plans, prep, etc.), and "holiday" time (I don't have to explain that one).  And, well, things are just never easy in Nod....

So, my"merry" is just wearing a wee bit thin today.

But, I'm trying.

(Display on chest in living room)

If you're wondering what's testing my merry today....well, it's the "lights."  Remember Day 4 and the "lights" issue?  Yeah, I thought so.
And, after decorating and undecorating my little dining room tree on Day 5 I went shopping for lights and came up empty handed?  (Coming back to you?)
And on Day 10, I gave up and moved on and redecorated the tree for the second time with lights I wasn't happy with?

Well, my sweet and fun gal pal, Olde Lady Morgan, knew which lights I was searching for, made a special trip to get some for me, and sent them to me.
YEAH!! What's not to be merry about??? (Thank you BUNCHES OLM!!)
Well, they came yesterday.....and are....

STUCK in my mailbox!!!
:o(

Apparently our mail carrier mistakenly thought that just because "what goes up, must come down," "what goes in, must come out."
So not true....

Turned it on its side, but it's just not coming outta there...and I have the scars and frost bite to prove it....

It was still there when the mail carrier came again today...and nope, she couldn't get it out either.
Waiting on Crow Daddy to bring me a box cutter....
'Tis the season for drastic measures.....

Stay calm and merry on!!!

Really? Your mail carrier had to stuff the FRAGILE package in your mailbox?! Perhaps putting it on your porch wasn't an option? Sweet Marie! She is so stinkin thoughtful!!

Well for your info, your lack of merriment brought quite a bit of it to me! I actually laughed out loud and Dasko thought I was crazy. He barked and looked out the back door. That is too funny, should be an add for the PO. Then they wonder why they are losing money! Oh well I hope you get it out before the trees come down. Can't wait for the second installment, or as Paul Harvey used to say, "the rest of the story."
It was sweet of OLM to try to help

Oh Ms. Cranky,

I shouldn't be laughing at your expense, but you tell a good story.
Though I am LIVID that yoru carrier stuck the box in there when it was clearly marked fragile! UGH! If you can turn it to the top... there is newspaper at the top too.. then the bubble wrap like I said in email... hopefully you can open the box and pull them out... THEN I have a NOT so merry way to give it back to your carrier! HUGS!! OLM

Yup, I would have taken my knife outside and cut the (blank) things out of the box and just shut the door. The mail carrier could just put the mail inside the empty stuck in there box. What a sweetie Marie is. Sometimes, I wish I thought of people more often.....just doesn't come to me sometimes:) Sometimes the Grinch in us comes out during the holidays. I had a day like that on Monday. Why does end of term have to happen over Christmas break? Hope you get your lights out tonight and get that tree fixed the way you want. Good luck. -Steph-

Good golly, Miss Molly, never seen such a thiing. I feel for you Robin, but I must admit I couldn't help but laugh. Not so much if I was waiting on them as you are. So sweet of Marie. Hoping you get them out soon, and I just love all that snow. Would love to change climates with you about now. In 70's here yesterday but cooler today. Hoping all is calm and all is bright for you tonight.

I would like to know how your mail carrier wedged that box in there! Good grief! Carefully cutting the side of the box that is facing you, along the edges, should do the trick. You can get the lights out & then take out your frustrations on the box : )

LOL!! Sorry. Regardless of where they are, you DID get your lights! How sweet of your pal.

Oh my lord...I know you live in Nod, but is your porch in another county? I hope the lights did not break. Marie is such a sweetie! Postal lady might have been better off giving the package to snow dog to deliver. Hope it gets better for you, Janice
