I know many of us are weary of many a thing of late.
Weary of the same walls around us, weary of being told how far to stand from others, weary of not being able to share a good meal with good friends, weary of not being able to "touch" our loved ones, weary of wondering how long this will last, weary of there being no toilet paper or cleaning supplies when you finally find your bra and go to the store.
And weary of being weary.
Easter morning greeted us with another round of the white stuff....I can't even be sure of the totals...I know it could have been worse...but it certainly couldn't have been at "all" in my book. That, of course, was followed by bitter winds and unseasonable cold (as in single-digit kind of cold).
And, yeah....I'm weary of that too.
Snow Dog, however, seems more than content.
I have no finishes to show you...and trust me when I say my WIPs aren't worth showing right now.
I did splurge on a 9.5 cutter blade for my Townsend cutter....I am seriously considering undertaking a simple, but large (ok, large to ME), hooking project (I can't believe I am thinking of doing this)...and know I will need a very wide cut to even give me the courage to THINK I want to do this. (I know torn strips would go faster and be more economical but while I love the look of torn strips, there is something about tearing them in less-than-precise widths that rubs my OCD personality the wrong way.)
Someone talk me outta this.
Someone talk me outta this.
I know this may come as shocking to you, but I have not much else to say.
So I will leave you with this photo of my niece and the "new kid on the block."
Doesn't get much cuter than a girl and her goats.

I understand how you feel, between seeing so many succumbing to the virus and being confined, it gets to us all.
I just keep busy as much as I can, watch shows that take my mind off of it and get through the day. This is when we start camping and get out more, but most places are closed off, so less places to go and our camper is stuck at the factory and the camps are closed, so it is just a waiting game. A large rug sounds like a great project, I would love to do more large projects, just need to get my gumption back.
Debbie
Yes weary sums it up. I like being home but I am so sad to not see friends and family.
Show a picture of the rug you want to do that's a good size cut.
Stay healthy
Cathy
Same crappity crap here but no snow thank heaven. we're hitting the 80's which makes me as sad as your snow.
My head is not in a crafting place so I just clean and purge and binge. dang netflix
Robin...yes, weary! Saturday was so nice too! I cleaned out some of my raised beds. May 26th....well, maybe we can garden more....I seriously love uneven lines, fabric and crooked stiches. My OCD makes me nervous to see it all perfect...LOL Your niece is adorable.
I'm weary too. today is Blurday. I'm done. I can't focus on anything creative. I'm whinny. Ugh...
It could be worse, I could be dead. Gratefulness
Thank you for the posting and especially for the picture of your niece. So cute. Got to hold my 18 month old great nephew yesterday. His mom is a teacher and had a conference call for an hour and asked me to come over. We both feel it’s time to start returning to “normal” for many reasons. Oh, and it was the first time Brody said Mimi ( the name his older brother gave me) so I was beaming. It’s the little things....
Regards, Amy
Weary sums it up perfectly! I knew I could depend on you, ET.
Great picture of Snow Dog and the one of your niece is just too sweet.
A 9.5 cut will make that rug go much more quickly. How do hookers do a room size rug in a 3 cut???
Hi Robin, I am working on a rug right now with wide torn strips and love it. I keep pondering buying a 9 or higher blade (didn't know there was a 9.5) and I keep thinking of what Maggie B. said in one of her books, I could buy a lot wool for the same money:) I don't mind the non uniformity of the strips, but that's just me. If the wider blade will make you want to hook more, then go for it! My rug is going fast and I love it, I tear a wide strip then cut that in half. Take care, yes we are all getting weary.
What a cutie with her goats! I am weary of just working. Will be working the weekend again! Good luck on your new choice to hook a rug. Cannot wait to see what you will be doing. Janice
I know nothing about cutters and hooking, but I love to tear. Until something goes wrong and it only takes a miniscule wrong for me to want to rip it all to shreds. Use the cutter!! We're all a little edgy so make it easy on yourself. Hope your weather warms up. Love your pup, and of course, who could not break into a smile at the little girl and baby goat?
Hi Robin,
After reading your post, all I could think of was how much I wish I could just give you a hug!! Yes, A BIG HUG!!! I think ALL OF US are feeling so deprived and disconnected and sad and human touch is SO IMPORTANT!!! All those studies they do about babies and how much they need touch is so very true and I don't think we ever outgrow it!!! Sadly, that is THE ONE THING we have to stay away from right now and I for one LONG for the day when I can again hug my daughter and my friends!!! Just know I am thinking of you and sending you LOTS OF HUGS and hoping you can sense them!!!
Please go ahead and get your cutter blade and work on that rug!! I just KNOW it will make you feel better!!!! Oh, and it really is OKAY to feel weary!!
Sending BIG HEART HUGS your way, my friend~
Julie xoxo
Well Robin, it isn't much better in Florida despite the fact one has warmer weather. I too am feeling weary and wondering all the same questions you mentioned. Like you, I have been trying to keep busy with little craft projects and reading, goofing around the internet and looking up all kinds of questions that come to mind. I also have been trying some new cooking recipes like bread with Einkorn flour, a real blueberry pie like they show in magazines, and other such challenges. I fear I will end up weighing a lot of pounds that will need to come off!! LOL!! However, I don't want to get sick so I make do. One thing I have been trying to learn during this Stay Home requirement is the art of just plain simple making do. On all fronts; cooking, sewing, connecting by phone or computer. This seems like a huge challenge for me because I have been living in this life that has been made full from my family, friends, and many other blessings I have taken for granted. Now life is so drastically different and I am trying to wrap my arms around it all. Being raised in the South, I find the Appalachian Mountain people's stories inspiring and compelling. Talk about make-do! During my own childhood years, people lived in the back hollers of the mountains lives with hardships I never have experienced. But they lived with grace, fortitude, determination, and faith. Their stories, that I have been reading, give me strength and renewed awareness that I need to just embrace and live today as fully as I can. Well, I am here to say, it is so much harder than I ever imagined!! I hope with all this time I have on my hands these days, I will actually learn some important lessons to take forward. So, way down here from you, I am trying to make this Stay Home thing a laboratory of learning useful skills and perspectives.
Take care, Robin, way up there in the land of Nod. I am so glad you wrote to all of us and thank-you for you honesty and insights. I promise, Spring is on it's way soon!!
Hello Robin,
I love that picture of your niece and the new kid. What a lovely photo.
I am with you. Weary is the right word I think. At least I can go outside and get in the garden. I am thankful I have that. It would be hard if we had snow on the ground. I know though that even that snow won't last.
I ordered that rug, Windy Day. I can't wait for it to get here. I am just going to take a day and dye wool and start hooking. I just need to do something like that.
I am like you. My OCD isn't happy unless everything lines up. I try to get over it but I never can.
I am glad you are blogging. It helps me so much to not feel I am alone.
I hope your days soon become filled with all things spring.
Blessings to you dear Robin.
How did I miss this blog post? Guess I was wrapped up in grass cutting and finishing the hooking on Windy Day?? Oh well, better late than never. Love that Snow Dog but the snow not so much. Your niece is adorable and has that Scandinavian look.
Two questions.... do you know why baby goats are so cute and hop so much? Question two, what the heck is that decor hanging on the door?
I just happened across your blog and I love what I see.
I am a big time lover of crows and yes, I am also weary.
I look forward to visiting and getting to know you and your blog better.
Stay Safe and Well 🌷
