Those kind of days are rare; but like anything rare, they seem mercurial and vanish quickly leaving the person experiencing them doubting their existence in the first place.
Despite my misgivings about this new year (being 2020-too and all), I have been blessed to have had several of these most magical days in this first month of this new year....
While seeing an eagle is not uncommon here (especially at the lake as we have a nest in the tree outside the front door), one does not always see two together (I believe the adult inhabitants of our nest)...keeping each other warm...on a frozen lake...during a storm....
Then, one late afternoon/early evening after returning to Nod, I looked out my front window and saw something that seemed out of sorts.
I initially dismissed it thinking it just a strange agglomeration of snow from the most recent snowfall - one that would be there in the same place the next time I glanced out until the sun found it.
But as I continued to look out, I realized what I was looking at.
{Pay no mind to those strange glowing eye things in the trees behind him...}
He stayed until the sun set and the gloaming began. His wondrous white stood out against the darkness.
And he was huge...as were his antlers. (I eventually dug through several closets and came up with a pair of binoculars...unfortunately, you can't take photos with binoculars and his magnificent rack is lost in the photos.)
I have heard there is a "pocket" of albino deer in these parts and have seen them on others' trails cams and photos, but had never ever seen one in person. Now I have.
Legend has it that one who sees a white stag will have good luck (and woe be to anyone who harms one).
I guess there are perks to living in Nod after all.

Wow, what an amazing sight ti see. I have yet to see any albino animals of any kind.
They do have binoculars now, that have a phone attachment, so something fun to use with the phone for close ups.

I began having chills on your beginning the post because I knew it was going to be awesome. Then when the eagles appeared then the albino deer I was not only covered with goosebumps but close to tears. Don't think I'll ever be closer than this to witness such beauty. Lucky you to see those and you definitely deserve the good luck they bring. Am glad to see this before going to bed and perhaps I'll have wonderful peaceful dreams. Thanks so much for capturing the beauty and sharing it.
Oh how wonderful. I have only seen a taxidermied one in Montana. And yay! Good fortune for you 💕
It seems to me that this year has wonderous things in store for you. I never believe in chance. I believe that magic was intended for you. How amazing you got those sightings from an animal world who only reserve their showings for those who truly see. That deer is just amazing! so healthy and how lovely that it stayed all day to make sure you saw and enjoyed. The eagles yes one is amazing too but two is a rare gift. that is why I sit in my window most morning watching the sun rise, the birds come to the feeder, and to make sure I don't miss whatever other creature wants to walk by. I think they have a lot to tell us if we would only listen.
have a wonderful day
Cathy
We have eagles here but I have only seen them a few times and never caught a pic of one. Your finds were magical! An albino deer is so cool and I sure hope no hunter ever finds him. I also hope by spying yours here we can have a little of that good luck our way! It's super cold as I'm sure you're experiencing also. So stay warm and enjoy your lovely, magical Land of Nod!
It's so nice seeing a post from you. I like your angel and the heart all ready and waiting for Valentine. How lucky indeed to have seen the pair of eagles and the white deer but I also see another deer with the albino deer. I enlarged the photo by holding the command key and the + key to enlarge the photo and he's definitely not alone.
We have a pair of eagles in our lane and they have been there for years and have had many offsprings so eagles are seen most days and we love them. They are amazing birds.
I hope your luck continues.
Take care, spring is getting closer.
Hugs, Julia
How amazing! I have never seen an albino deer. About 5 minutes from my home is a nature preserve for birds. There are eagles there. Goodness, they have the largest nests! Seeing both eagles and deer would make my month.
Thank you for sharing, for some reason this month has been difficult mentally. Your post cheered me up.
Amazing. In Native culture, you've been doubly no triply I can't spell it...blessed...2 eagles and the deer. I've never seen an albino deer! Oh, and those glowing eyes....Sasquatch has also been seen in Land of Nod...ahahah In Native culture he only shows himself to those worthy. I do believe in lots of spooks, energies, orbs....but, I can't wrap my mind around Sasquatch but those glowing eyes....leave me to wonder.
Wow!!! Now that is very cool. There are some eagles in our area, but it is on a rare occasion that I see one and have never seen two. The albino deer is an amazing sight. Lucky you to have finally seen and may your good luck last throughout the year and beyond.
So ironic. Not 10 minutes before I saw your post, I was on PHM and saw that heart you have...but alas the red ones were all sold. You have the most amazing things, ET. Color me jealous.
Occasionally we have eagles sit in a nearly dead old oak tree in our front yard. Usually one, sometimes 2. I keep resisting cutting the tree down, as the eagles sit there and check out the field across the road. If it's not too cold outside, I try to slip out the door and listen to them chatter to each other.
How cool to see the albino deer, especially since he still had his rack. And I see there's a companion, maybe you'll see more next summer? I hope the legend it true!
What great favor to espy the eagles and albino deer and companion in that snowy setting ... quite moving. Nod for all its remoteness, is
a gift that keeps giving and worth the trek. I just love your Angel
with her heart medallion... you have such an eye...I am hoping for
abundant blessings for you in 2022, and this is just a foretaste of
what is possible.
What a wonderful post ! It's rare to see one eagle where I am , but a pair !!! Amazing ...the albino deer was just incredible !!!! A special start to 2022 !!!
If I saw something like him,I just KNOW I'd faint dead away!!!! Wow
Nitro mention eagles on your lake.
Color me green with envy.
Nitro? Hmmm, spell check at work. (not to)
It is illegal to kill an albino deer here in Michigan. What a beauty and yes I have heard that if one sees it they will have good luck. Does that include blog readers seeing it through the eyes of you. I can only hope. A gorgeous wool heart on that angel. Perfect pairing. Cannot wait to see the eagles here. Ice is in the river now and the Winter ducks are here, so the eagles soon should arrive now. Have a magical weekend my friend. Janice T
You deserve every bit of hope and good luck that can come your way. What incredible sightings. SO very happy for you. <3
Wow. Glad you were able to snap a few shots for us. I'll bet you see this guy again and I hope the legend is believed and no harm comes to him. They hunt them here as soon as one is seen.
And if the legend of a sighting is true, woohoo Noddy girl!
Your posts are nothing short of magical. Marshel in Alabama
What beautiful and rare signs! Perhaps it is “Hope.”
That is just amazing!!! So incredible! I bet you were so thrilled.
Its so awesome that you were able to get photos too.
Your are so right, so magical.
WOW and thank you for sharing the magic of the eagles and white deer. Signs for sure of a better year ahead! This made my day! Adding to the awesome the angel & heart!
Wonderfully magical. A good portent I hope. We all need magic in our lives and it’s Mother Nature who often obliges.

Morning Sweet Friend, that is one magnificent animal and how blessed are you to lay your eyes on the albino deer. I love deer, have many that visit me here at home and they make me happy, your sighting is magical. Thank you for sharing, made my heart happy… Prim Blessings Francine
OOh...how lovely! Such a beautiful animal and rare in the wild like that! There is a herd of white deer on an old army depot near us. I am not sure of the history of the herd, but know that they are protected on the land. They have lived there for decades. I will have to do some research on how they came to be. As long as I can remember, they have been there, so I have taken it for granted...now I am curious.
Absolutely amazing! May he live a long life! And those eagles, too. What wondrous things you saw, with your own eyes (weird saying, I know: whose eyes would you be looking out of other than your own, anyway?). That angelic deer is a SIGN.
Lucky you to have seen this handsome fellow! I also hope he lives a long life. And, who knows, you might even be blessed to see him again.
Oh wow! I am so glad I found this post buried in the 1000 plus emails I was going through to delete! I got backed up when my granddaughter spent a few days here. What an amazing month you had! I did not even know that albino deer existed and agree with the person who said they would have fainted away if they'd seen him! We have an occasional eagle here but have never seen one on the ground (or ice!). Although my neighbor was telling us about one that was diving onto the road after some road kill recently not too far from here. I hope he didn't become road kill himself. That heart! It's beautiful.
